Y’all know I love me some pink.  I don’t know what it is about that color.  Maybe it’s because it wasn’t forced on to me as child.  My Mom was pretty open to let me wear what ever I wanted as a little girl.  And by whatever I wanted I mean all the hand me downs that came our way.  Life with hippies… but I digress.  This post isn’t about that.

It’s about a new iPhone case company I found while I was out at Project LV.   The Le Deux metal case by Incipio caught my eye because of the super bright pink that surrounds the phone.  When the fine folks offered to send me one for a test run I said, “Yes, Please!”  If you are anything like me you drop your phone at least once a day and then you hold your breathe when you pick it up in hopes that it does not have a shattered face.  The Le Deux is a brushed metal case with a polycarbonate frame.  The frame has just enough of a lip on all sides that there is a bumper guard that protects the iPhone when dropped.

I am not saying that you can get this case and start throwing Siri around.  You still need to take care but you can breathe a little easier if she does slip away for a second and faceplants on the floor.

MiH Jeans Recap : Project Show LV

I popped over to the MiH Jeans booth at Project Show last week to see what lovely denim is in the works come Fall.  As usual the denim styles and fit were next level but that is not what I am going to show you today.  It was the separates and the jackets that I fell in love with.  Like the sweet chambray top above!  The most comfortable fabric made into a very chic blouse.

I love the nautical vibe with a twist in forest green stripes and high-waist skinny jeans.  A modern approach to a classic style.

A way to quickly glam up a classic white shirt and chic jeans is this gorgeous green velvet blazer with silk lapel.

If edgy is more what you are going for, then check out this leather and denim motorcycle jacket from the MiH Collection.  Even the lining is special.  It’s the details that get me!

Last but not least, this fringy, fuzzy vest that just about screams at you to have an Anita Pallenberg moment.  It’s one of those pieces that can be dressed up or down.

Plastic Dreams : Melissa Shoes

I dream in plastic ever since I discovered Melissa shoes a few years ago when I needed a cute flat that could hold up in the summertime rain.  I was pleased to discover they are life savers all year round.  The flats have become my go-to travel slipper.  How excited was I to stumble upon the Melissa booth @ProjectShow in Las Vegas last week?

Let’s all just take a moment to discuss the 3 finer point of the shoes above.  1) Woven wedges. 2) Color popping.  3)  T-straps with tassels!!

Said flats in new sparkle colors.  Oh boy.

Demure bow covered platform pumps.

Flocked studded wedge booties.

Really love the color combo and the texture combo.  One last thing about these shoes… the smell like MAC lipglass.  It is so wonderfully weird, but true.

@ProjectShow : Accessories Round Up

Sometime you get dressed and you can’t do more than pick out your simplest, most basic pieces to get you out the door on time (if you are like me, that is).  The key to making those outfits shine with personality is everything else; The Accessories.  Here is a preview of what’s in store for FW’12.

Over sized hats are not going away thankfully and here is a beautiful teal topper from the classic kids at Kangol.

Bags are always a great option to be on-trend without buying into a full look of something.  Azaya Blue makes such fun neon and studded options.  The Navajo print is still going strong but you should get it from the leaders of the pack with the Dopp bag from Pendleton Woolen Mills.

Perhaps you are more interested in something a bit more exotic.  Steal from the boys with this Parabellum doctor bag I found at Project Wooster.

Another obsession of mine are scarves.  Especially bright over-sized ones!  These Kapital ones were lovingly placed at Project Wooster.

Why be boring with a plain iPhone case when you can get the best ones from Incase.  I love the new Andy Warhol ones.

Happy Socks came by the ProjectBlogger’s table and gave us their Project Show exclusive.  You can get happy with all these dotty styles here.

You didn’t think I’d post an accessories round up without any shoes? Of course not.  I saved the best for last.  Get a load of these claw boots by Friend of Mine.  They come in grey too, if you wondering.

Click links for shopping!  And if you want to thank me for the sneak peeks I wear a size 6 in those Claw boots.  Hint Hint.

@AGJeans kills it on so many levels when it comes to @ProjectShow in Las Vegas.  Let me start by telling they have a lil’ cafe serving Nobu sushi and the yummiest cookies.  In my opinion they have the best event to hit up in the evening as well.  This year I got to see Foster The People play and last year it was The Black Keys.  So there, jealous yet?  But sandwiched between all that nourishment for my soul with fine food and solid tunes they put me in a frenzy with these prints in denim.  Which one to pick: florals, dots or stars… I can’t decide.

Project Wooster Camo Recap!

@NickWooster loves a camo print.  Here is a quick round up of the offerings he presented last week @ProjectShow in Las Vegas.  He has you covered from top to bottom.

There were full suits in camo but I think this piece was my favorite.  A felted wool baseball jacket with enough zippers to give it a great motorcycle jacket edge.

If you get tired of the classic green colorway try the sunny version in red, yellow orange.  Good for hiding in Miami are these Orlebar x Wooster swim trunks.

What happens when camo cargos go to die?  They get reincarnated into snazzy tote bags.

These beauts are an exclusive NW x Leffot collabo.

If clothes don’t make the man than surely a camouflage couch does.  Exclusively designed for Project Wooster.  For a full list of the brands gathered in Project Wooster click here.

Project Show: Jewelry Round Up

I love sparkly things.  It’s the magpie in me.  Do I get it from my Nana Kitty who worked in a jewelry shop when I was growing up?  Or maybe it was the first home we had in Venice Beach had a room I called the rainbow crystal room.  It was a sun-room my Mom filled with plants and flowers and she hung all different shapes and sizes of vintage chandelier crystals from fishing wire so when the sun streamed in there were rainbow prisms everywhere.  I experienced my first earthquake in there and the light and colors flying everywhere was so amazing that when the room stopped shaking I immediately screamed “do it again!”.

I post a lot about Alexis Bittar because he is the most Ab-Fab glamorous costume jewelry designer so when I spotted his booth I had to stop revisit his baubles.  You can see why in the photos above.

A brand new designer I discovered is Kate Cummings.  Her grandma was an estate collector and has a motherload of vintage Chanel. She has rings and necklaces reconstructed from buttons and pins as well as vintage rings like these.  As soon as her line 8185 Vintage hits the market I will post on where to buy so you can scoop yours up before they are all gone.

If you saw my posts on my engagement ring then you already know how infatuated I am with Anna Sheffield and her BingBang collection.  Here are a couple of pieces I can’t wait to get my paws on.  The anchor ring and custom ID bracelets are the bees knees.

Chris Habana has been designing rock-n-roll pieces for years.  I have featured him many times in Antenna magazine.  It was nice to see the bad ass new collection called My Enemy by Chris Habana that consists of rope, wire and bone cuffs with claw pendents for equal measure.  This will be the perfect antidote when you need to wear some armor.

Another new find was Dream Collective by Kathryn Bentley.  I pretty much fell in love with these colorful layered necklaces of record beads.  On top of all the killer handmade jewelry she has a dreamy tumblr too.  Swoon!

I always like to check out Bernard James when I hit #ProjectShowNYLV to see what he is obsessing over.  Clearly this season it is Native American inspired.  This is a mens collection that any girl would steal from her man.

Hope you enjoyed my picks and be sure to click the links to find more on all the designers above.

Moving at the Speed of Light (in Numbers)

Right now I am finally sitting down and trying to recap what has gone on in my career in the past 2 weeks.  Fourteen days ago to this minute I found out that the job I had been at for 5 years was over.  This was more that just a job.  I loved it, lived it, breathed it.  I was blessed enough to spend the last 60 months falling in love with my Antenna magazine family.  SKim got me all teary-eyed with her post quickly after we all found out that our last issue wasn’t going to print and we were folding. Getting to laugh, cry, debate, eat, drink, dance, travel, create and argue with Keri, KV, SG and Harms was truly an experience I will hold dear to me.

I came from being a freelance fashion stylist so I had never had a job that lasted that long ever, in my entire life.  As soon as I found out, after a million questions about what happens next to all of us, much to my creative director Evan’s surprise, as I should have been more freaked out about being unemployed, I then expressed my concern for all the great brands and designers that were going to be disappointed about not getting their credits in the spring issue, my brain jumped right back into freelancer mode.

Got to hustle.  Strike while the iron is hot.  One door closes and another one opens.   Be positive.  All things happen for a reason.  We are still family.  We said all this and more to each other.

I quickly reached out to Marcus Troy because I was on board to be a part of the Project Bloggers for the Vegas stint of Project Show for AntennaMag and OnceWhenIWas.  Did it matter if it was just this personal blog?  Nope, it didn’t.  It was just the boost I needed to hear.

In 3 frenzied and long days of packing, doing final returns and emailing the hundreds of fashion contacts I managed to wrap up my office and get all my stylist gear into storage just in time to be spit into #NYFW.  Zooming around fashion week while clearing out computers and wardrobe cages all at the same times was quite a feat.  But Keri and got it all done just in time to take a meeting with Diesel for a styling gig.

One door closes and another one opens.  Yep, people kept saying that.  My last day at Antenna was also my first freelance stylist gig of the year.  The next 3 days were spent at the new Diesel concession inside the Bloomingdale’s Soho giving my advice and styling winners at the big event.  You should check it out on the 3rd floor if you happen to be in Soho.  Straight from Bloomie’s I jetted to Las Vegas to see what’s in store for FW 12 and met with all my peeps to let them know I am now a free agent. (Droppin’ hints!)

In the next few days there will be #ProjectShowNYLV recap posts on this site in addition to a more uniform way of posting.  I guess it’s official, I am a stylist - slash - style blogger.

Stay tuned.

Meanwhile, down the way taking over a substantial piece of @ProjectShow real estate is the artfully curated Project Wooster space.  I know you are familiar with #menswear so the man @NickWooster is already your biggest man crush.

He is a master at celebrating clothing in a completely masculine way by showing the fellas how to mix and match patterns, textures and layer without over doing it.  It all comes off so naturally it is truly a joy to step in to this environment and pause to reflect of how clothing should inspire you to be inventive and free in expressing yourself.

As I write this I am sitting on the camo couches listening to guys and girls ohh and ahh while snapping photos like they are in the Moma in front of a Rothko.

It is a wonderful reprise from the intensity that is #ProjectshowNYLV

Thank YOU, Wooster!

Calling all shoe freaks!  I am having an attack @BedStuTweets over these wooden platforms and distressed ankle booties.  #ForTheBoys there are perfectly dirtied green suede and black leather in 3 styles to choose from.

And that close up shot?  Wondering what that is?  It is razor sliced leather that creates an effect that feels like suede and looks like grooves on a record.  Playing my song.
