Once When I Was about 8 years old I had a faux fur coat with contrast trim that I worn in those sunny but chilly winters in Houston. Here I am with my cousin and her cat Blue. I think it’s these photos and memories that always keep me searching the thrift stores for something old to make new again. In a sense every vintage piece I pick up is just a jigsaw puzzle of a lifetime of fashion memories that I am somehow trying to recreate.
I channeled a 50’s vibe with this AG Jeans striped tee and chambray circle skirt from OBEY Clothing. The best element are these Low End Theory tights I found at Bloomie’s that I can’t recall the brand and don’t have a tag inside. Sorry! But don’t they remind you of Tribe Called Quest’s seminal album Low End Theory’s cover art? I love them so much. If only I could run into Q-tip while wearing them. Sigh.
Vintage headscarf is Avon, yes, as in door-to-door make up. The tag says Sweet Honesty. Weird, huh? The Echo of the Dreamer bird ring which is getting a lot of comments lately from readers of The Hunger Games. Not sure why, I gotta read those books. Kept it simple with my J Shoes booties that are so comfortable I will miss them once boot season is fully over.

It may be sunny but it is still chilly… one of the last times I get to wear my Uniqlo J+ coat. I’m on trend with the pop of neon from my LemLem scarf but most of all I love the vintage brooch that my cousin passed on to me from my Aunt. They know I will wear the weirdest pieces.
