Eating yummy ramen in Atlanta with bf’s family.  Pre-karaoke.  Pretty much a perfect night.

Been shooting in the studio which means I need to not worry about what I am wearing. It’s all about a vintage blouse, ratty cardigan and OBEY jeans and boots.  Tossed my hair back in a vintage Gucci scarf, gotta get the fabulous in somewhere.

vintage books.

Yep, it’s getting cold.  Two of my new favorite acquisitions is this Ursula hat from No.6 by MInimart and this Madeline modified peacoat c/o Hyden Yoo.  Newly chopped hair has lead to a strong desire to wear hats all the time.  I guess it is because now hats will stay on my head.

Vintage dalmatian spotted blouse with Goldsign flares and Marc Jacobs wedges.  Going sporty with this Nixon backpack and mustard dots c/o Mango scarf.

Dressing like a boy to the best of my girlie girl ability means a vintage Liz Claiborne sweater over a fitted shirt c/o J.A.C.S.  A chunky necklace c/o Ted Baker with my red velvet Agave jeggings.  I hate writing that word but I guess it is the technical term, right?  I wasn’t sure about a kiltie fringe on me but now I love these Candela oxfords.

Vintage jumpsuit with leopard wedges. Too easy. Jewelry is just a couple necklaces with a jumble of charms and stacks of vintage bracelets.

Black and white and red all over.  I feel like a White Stripes video.  The Leyendecker shirt is actually the palest pink jersey you can imagine and the vintage necklace is a combo of two of my favorite things:  tiny glass beads and long fringe.  I have on my Agave Modas, my go-to black skinnys paired with the wedge booties c/o Puma. A vintage belt and I am holding my LemLem scarf.

Probably the last time I will have bare arms outside (in Nyc) for the next 4 months.

Final post on the vintage pink coat.  For the past few years I haven’t worn it because I let the lining fall apart and I stopped liking the length.  Rather than buying a new pink coat (hello, Tommy Hilfiger two seasons ago!) I invested in what I had and got the lining refreshed and hemmed it about 10 inches.  It’s nice to have rekindled a love affair with this pretty piece that I have had for so long.

This coat has had quite a life, and that is just with me.  I can only imagine where it went before me.  The tag inside says made exclusively for Marshall Fields in beautiful 1950’s script.  In the past 13 years with me this coat has rung in the new millennium in London, been the color pink on an episode of Sesame Street and helped me garner the nickname Pinky Lee for a brief lived time.

Once When I Was living in the lower east side in the 90’s and Ludlow Street only had Marmalade and TG170 for shops and Max Fish and Luna Lounge for bars and Orchard Street only had DDCLab and alife was just the tiny art gallery / slash / sneaker store where all the cute skaters hung outside.  Across the street there was a vintage shop that had a pink coat hanging in the window.  At the time I had pink hair, and it was about a year before Gwen did it, I might add.  I was obsessed with anime and as always, Hello Kitty and all things cute.  And I hadn’t even made it to Japan yet.

When I saw this coat in the window I died.  I was just starting to style jobs on my own, I was mostly assisting or still working on films.  I couldn’t afford the ($80!) coat but this was the LES and everyone was super friendly.  I talked to the owner Erika and begged her to hold the coat til the end of the week for me.  I think I gave her $20.  So essentially I put this coat on lay away.

I can’t explain how happy this coat makes me feel.  You would feel it too if you saw it in person.  People cross the street to tell me how much they love it.  Especially in a sea of black that NYC can be in the fall / winter.  This pop of color is a doozy.

Let’s just say I still have to thank my best friends for arranging a ‘hair intervention’ after the coat was taken home because there is only so much pink your friends can handle.

Today’s outfit:  It’s in the details.  Thrift store score: Silk Marc Jacobs dress, golf oxfords c/o Candela.  I had to cut the sweetness of the frilly dress with the boyish shoes and sexy fishnets.  Nixon watch with vintage bracelets and rings.
