Once When I Was

The prints in Giambattista Valli’s FW ‘11 collections had me going over these pictures again and again. The kind of prints I go crazy for and add in the amazing colors you have me completely sold.

The prints and the silhouettes manage to be retro and modern at the same time.  Young and fresh but completely prim and proper.  I find it to be a fun and smart collection. 

If Starburst candies were fashion they would look like this.  Can’t you taste the rainbow?

Too much?  Keep it simple with these looks.

Weird but I like it.  Stella McCartney’s FW ‘11 collections was a little bonkers.  What with the wild prints and spotty dots everywhere. 

I personally loved almost all the dotted pieces but that was about it.   It was another collection that sent out those bulky arms down the runway.  But I won’t focus on what I am not fond of when there are these gems to behold.

Stella always delivers perfect menswear looks.  Effortless chic.

So many spots and dots that are sexy and whimsical.

How do you not love a fashion statement like this.  It’s like a present.  You wear it and you are a gift of pristine beauty to all who look upon you.

Hannah MacGibbon’s Chloe is knocking it out of the park with these snakeskin print lady-like get ups.  Soft, elegant and sexy. 

Great use of color blocking with a fantastic Seventies vibe with these luxurious knits and slouchy trousers.

Last of my personal favorites are the two black gowns, one is clean and sleek while the other one is edgy with a vintage rock and roll fringe.

 I am crazy about the sleeve details on these pieces by 3.1 Phillip Lim.  It looks like she is armed in nails.  So pretty and fluid but hard as nails, b*tches.

Amazingly cool dresses and prints.

Some of my favorite things:  Long skirts, 70’s colors, big bows and color blocking.

It’s not often you look at a collection and just complete think “I want to be that girl”.  When it comes to Vanessa Bruno, she just has me.  The prints, the chiffon, the slouchiness, the boots, the coats.  It’s all so effortless.

Oh why, yes, I would love to show off my collarbones.

These Details:

I mean, wow.  So much to love.  I am so smitten with this kitten.  Panthers & blue irises.   Surprising, witty, different and elegant.  This collection is exciting to me.  How does it make you feel?

In my opinion, Collette Dinnigan is one of those sleeper designers.  You never really think of her but when you come across her pieces in Barneys it’s always “Oh yeah, her dresses are always so pretty”.  She doesn’t fail this season but then again I don’t really perceive a great sense of Fall.  The look above is perfection though.

I love Marc Jacobs as much as the next gal but I really don’t get why designers make a collection of 67 looks and 25 are completely unattractive.  I am usually on the fence about LV but the last few seasons was fantastic.  Here are the looks I favored for this season’s collection.

I definitely prefer the lady-like looks with the amazing paillettes over the French Maid Military police look. Of course, it was the who’s-who of top models and the final look with Kate Moss was the icing on the cake.  I love all the lace up boots and Mary Janes.  Pretty much all the accessories are killer:  the bags, gloves, waist cinchers and please tell me those Peter Pan collars are detachable.

Gant by Michael Bastian was a really fun & sporty showing with just the right amount of sex appeal.  A great mix of patterns and textures to keep everything looking interesting. 

Sexy eyes plus stripes and checks.  Yes, please.

I love the way she is so into the story she is telling him and he clearly is not listening.

Oh my gosh, these tights!

I seriously need these sunglasses in my life. 

Taking inspiration from the British 50’s rockabilly movement Hyden Yoo created a complete environment with cool girls and hot guys that were card playing, pool shooting, oldies listening and downing stiff drinks. 

The mens looks were styled by our handsome friend Paul Avarali:

The ladies were taken care of by Mary Kate Steinmiller.  She didn’t miss a beat, I was dying over the details:

I need someone to do my hair like this:  Please ION, call me.

The creative direction done by The Supervisory didn’t overlook the smallest details and the models were kitted out with faux ciggies that even looked like they were burning. 

Tattoos are the real deal.
