Once When I Was

Once When I Was just starting out in NYC I was the wardrobe supervisor on an indie film that Angelina was acting in.  She wasn’t a huge star yet, still just dating Johnny Miller and she was great fun to spend the 18 hours of a shoot day with for 6 days a week for about 2 months. 

One night after about 15 hours on set we were sitting on a couch laughing hysterically at everything and nothing, how you do when you are deliriously tired and overworked.  The 1st AD yells rolling and we stifle our giggles until he yells out cut then we burst out laughing again. 

The next set up had the other actress, a seasoned actress if you will, and my job was to go watch the monitor with the script supervisor and director for any wardrobe mishaps and changes on any actors on camera.  After that scene ended and cut is called that actress comes storming up to me screaming with her fingers pointing right into my eyes like she was about to gouge them out accusing me of laughing at her with Angelina right in front of the director, producer, all the crew on set.  I was stunned and shaken.  It was so not true.  The furthest thing from the truth.  My job was to watch her on camera and here she saying that if I even look at her I’ll be sorry.  I thought my heart was going to pop out of my chest, I was so terrified.  I was pretty sure I would get fired, she was the top billed actress in the film at the time.

The next think I know Angelina has run up to my defense loudly stating that we were laughing at nothing that had to do with her and to back off. The whole set was dead quiet and the other actress glared at me and stormed off.  

That was the moment I fell in love with Angelina Jolie.  One more awesome thing about her…. she always hung up her clothes in the trailer.  I tell you, it’s the little things that stylists notice.
