The blur of the city.
One of those night when you think you are heading home to cook dinner but one too many cocktails and then the mood to stay out has taken over. It was a beautiful, windy night and I had B take a million hipstamatic snaps until his phone died.
I have this ultra soft cotton maxi dress c/o Elan but of course, for me it’s just a bit too maxi. I have this trick where rather than hanging the dress up I twist it up and tie it in knots to get that major crinkly look. But alas, I am still just a bit too wee. So instead of rocking the platforms, I just knotted the skirt in the back. It’s a sexy halter dress that is not appropriate for work so I layered it with a loose tee c/o Line + Dot that I hacked to give it a cropped effect. My summer shoes of choice this season tends to be my Melissa’s because it’s like wearing slippers. It’s all about proportions when it comes to being small. They are lots of looks and trends I would love to wear but if you can’t make it work for your body then it’s best you just pass on that style and move on to the next one.
Bag: YSL Muse, Arm candy: friendship bracelets and sparkles c/o Shashi. Oh yeah, dinner was at Republic. But this isn’t really a food blog.

It was just two months ago that I was on a Spanish holiday. It’s so crazy how the summer is zooming by. There was a great week where all I had to do was go to the beach, eat, shop, eat, read, drink, eat, sleep. Not necessarily in that order.

I always think I am going to really dress up on holiday but pretty quickly I get a bit lazy and begin to live in cut off shorts and easy tops. This chiffon top is Saivana c/o Bollare, the silk parka is Rendez-vous by Paul & Joe Sister for Urban Outfitters, the cut-offs are c/o Joe’s Jeans.

The sunnies are c/o Cheap Monday & and my favorite, the Bonnie flatforms are c/o 80%20. The earrings were a score from the 25 cent bin at H&M one day last summer, my bird ring from Echo of the Dreamer and of course, I am never without my Shashi friendship bracelets.

Yo, it’s summer. It’s hot. It’s Friday. Is anyone even working today?
Thank god, or actually OBEY Clothing for easy summer dresses. With pockets and studs! All black again, but paired it with a wrist full of arm candy from Shashi, Bliss Lau & vintage. Pom pom flats by Melissa. Leopard scarf is a new vintage score thanks to dear Aunt Jeanette.

Photographer Tony Harmer, Dolce & Gabbana hair & make-up artist Michelle Morrow & I brought in the lovely Alaina from APM Models to show off a little bit of the summer trend of mixing patterns and bold colors.

I know less is more but sometimes more is just right. I don’t know if it is because my brain is always going a mile a minute that I am visually drawn to mixed patterns but something about all the contrasting lines is appealing to me. I paired an abstract maxi dress from H+M with an aztec inspired printed tank from OBEY worn with a vintage wooden belt and my Angie ankle boots from Koolaburra. I have a printed chiffon scarf tied to my bag from Ashley Tyler who makes very special hand crafted items.

I wore my Owlita feather earrings and my new eagle ring c/o Forever 21 with my silver owl ring. Suddenly, I am amassing quite a bird ring collection. I think if you find yourself with three of something it is the start of a collection. I am as trendy as the next girl or boy with a pile up of friendship bracelets on my wrist in time for summer. From top to bottom: Shashi, gift, gift, Forever 21 and Shashi. Shashi is a new favorite of mine. The bracelets all have sparkly charms and easy closures to take off for showering. I appreciate some functionality in fashion. It was still chilly out so I have my rainbow striped socks c/o Sock It To Me, so cute, right?

It was a grey and rainy spring day that B and I took a trip up to Yale so he could check out the open house for photography. Yale wasn’t anything like it is on Gilmore Girls, it seemed just like any other college town. What do I know from Ivy League?
