One final look back on the highlight of 2012 was the commitment ceremony I had with my man, BC. I want to say major thank you to @Allsaints_ for the gift of this gorgeous dress. I bleached it three times to get this sandy ombre effect.
Here is a different AllSaints dress that would be lovely on the beach.

It is the last day of 2012 and I am reflecting back on this very eventful year.
Surprise engagements, new family members, job lay-offs, cross-country moves, career high-points and an intimate commitment ceremony.
What a year!
I am so grateful I to spend every day with this wonderful man.

Sealed with a #kiss. @barnettcohen #beaches #love (at Surf Side Beach)

I can’t even begin to tell you how obsessed I was with Pulp Fiction and most importantly, Uma Thurman’s character Mia Wallace. I was just young enough to do foolish things like chop off my long curly red and dye it jet black plus crop it to a bob. Curly hair and banged up bobs do not go together. (Consider this a warning.) Needless to say that look did not work for me at all. I couldn’t find any pictures with the black hair but I rustled up with these two variations of a low point in my hair history.

Baby bangs and purple streaks were a bad decision but I am not totally mad at the bleached blonde moment. (Can we stop and notice my love for gold and silver lurex?)

My man is showing at Art Basel (select fair / neon french) and he is sending me love notes about our first vacation together.
Swoon!

A few of my favorite things in the form of postcards. Marilyn Monroe, Breakfast at Tiffanys, Sunsets and Death Cab for Cutie.

Oh the places I’ve been. I was lucky enough to drive from NYC to Las Vegas with this guy.

I can’t escape a museum gift shop without a handful of cards. It tends to be a game of one for me, one to send.

This box only contained cards from the past 15 years. It’s nice to know I still love Schiele & Klimt as much as I used to.

Ultimate pin-up icon Betty Page was a major obsession for me in the 90’s.

Once When I Was first beginning to travel a lot I started sending myself postcards from on the road. I uncovered yet another box filled with mementos and cards. It turns out I have a huge postcard collection.
What do you do with all of your postcards?

Once When I Was a little girl I had certain toys that meant the world to me. Of course my books, records and yes, Barbies. But there were these amazing artsy toys that I treasured as well. In addition the groovy awesomeness that was Spirograph there was my all time favorite called Fashion Plates.
My Mom sent me a package filled with childhood drawings that weren’t destroyed from Hurricane Andrew way back when. Since moving to LA and getting all my stuff out of storage in NY I am reconnecting with my treasured objects. These have a lot of water damage but to me it just adds to the images. I love discovering bits from your past that let you know you have been on your career path your entire life.

When we were approached to take part in this PSA, we were so honored because it’s for an election that is extremely important and will directly affect us - Ladies, please help get the word out and VOTE!…And don’t forget to watch out for Melissa’s cameo in ”You Don’t Own Me”!
This song is totally one of my karaoke jams. I can not tell you how many times I walked around my old neighborhood in Cobble Hill practice-singing it with headphones on looking like a nutcase. This video is awesome for so many reasons. I am so proud of all the strong women in it, singing their hearts out!
Ladies, for realz, do not forget to vote. Protect yourselves & your rights. Romney says he will appoint a Supreme Court Justice that is aligned with his beliefs and will discontinue funding to Planned Parenthood and try to overturn R.vs.W. I don’t know about you, but I didn’t have health insurance growing up. But I did have Planned Parenthood. It was in the real country (redneck) part in South Florida and I had to walk through picket lines and people yelling at me, calling me a whore and a slut because I wanted birth control. That was scary. But once I was inside, I was treated with respect, care and talked to and most importantly, taught about all my options.

Once When I Was styling this summer I had the pleasure to work with Sheryl Crow on the Bloomingdale’s Pink Book that was shot by Ben Watts at Milk Studios.
It’s weird, I don’t get shy around musicians at all but get me near photographers I admire and I tend to be a bit quiet and reserved. It was so easy to be comfortable working with Sheryl; she was gracious, down to earth and all around lovely. Ben had a crew of super cute and friendly assistants and he had the best energy on set but I never let him know how I was so very excited to work with him. (Now I am saying it, at the comfort of my keyboard!)
It was a busy summer of back to back shoots prior to moving out to LA and this was a highlight for sure.
