Junkfood x Meltdown comics

Old habits die hard. I am such a sucker for nostalgia.  When my friends over at Junk Food said I should drop in and see the pop up shop in Meltdown comics they didn’t have to ask twice.

Junk Food makes super soft tee shirts that are basically a trip down memory lane. Want that classic Def Leppard tee-shirt that you lost in high-school? (Sorry, that’s me; not you.) They have you covered.  From The Beatles and Bowie to Woodstock + Snoopy; there is a something from your childhood that you loved. Now they have added Hasbro to their roster, which means all kinds of games and toys are thrown into the mix.  When you go to Meltdown and buy your niece a Candy Land tee you can pick up a Twister one for yourself. (Sorry, me again; not you.)

A word about Meltdown comics; it’s overwhelmingly cool in there. And by cool, I mean geek-cool. Which I am, so I can say that. The walls are covered with vintage comics,  posters and collectibles. There was practically every Daniel Clowes book available and I could have stayed hours browsing.  Back east in Brooklyn, I loved shopping in my neighborhood shop Rocketship to fill my obsession with the Cerebus series so it is nice to know I have already found my comic book shop.  I am a creature of habit, I need to know it’s there; even if I only visit it once in a blue moon.
